NHD
In environments characterized by extreme heat, high pressure, or severe corrosion, traditional metal or rubber seals often struggle to maintain long-term, stable performance.
NHD Carbon offers high-performance graphite rings precision-machined from high-purity carbon graphite, specifically designed to address sealing and wear resistance challenges in harsh operating conditions. Whether in vacuum environments or chemical media, our products deliver exceptional sealing integrity and self-lubricating protection. They are widely compatible with pumps, valves, and compressors in industries such as chemical processing, metallurgy, and machinery, and we support full-range custom manufacturing.

Stepped Graphite Seal Ring
Adaptability to extreme environments: Our graphite rings can withstand temperatures as high as 3000°C in inert atmospheres and do not become brittle in cryogenic conditions—a capability unmatched by conventional sealing materials.
Superior Self-Lubrication: Graphite inherently possesses a low coefficient of friction, significantly reducing wear and extending equipment lifespan in oil-free or low-lubrication applications (such as compressor piston rings).
Wide Chemical Compatibility: Except for strongly oxidizing media, graphite rings are resistant to almost all chemical corrosion, including acids, alkalis, salt solutions, and various organic solvents, making them an ideal choice for sealing chemical pumps and valves.
Customization Capabilities: We offer more than just standard parts. Leveraging our factory’s machining capabilities, we can customize irregular-shaped rings, split rings, and beveled rings according to drawings to meet the installation requirements of specific equipment.
The following parameters are based on common grades of graphite; specific values are subject to the actual material test report.
| Feature dimensions | Detailed Specifications / Description | Value propositions for customers |
Material Grade | Isostatic graphite (fine-grain), molded graphite (medium-grain), vibration-molded graphite | Providing comprehensive coverage ranging from seals for precision instruments to packing for large-scale reactors |
Bulk density | 1.70 g/cm³ – 1.90 g/cm³ | The higher the density, the greater the resistance to media penetration and the longer the seal life. |
Compressive strength | ≥ 65 MPa (Isostatic pressing stage) | Suitable for high-pressure plunger pumps and extrusion applications; resistant to cracking |
Shore hardness | 35 – 60 | Moderate hardness, ensuring adequate support without damaging the surface of the expensive bushings |
Operating temperature range | -200°C to 450°C (oxidizing atmosphere) / 2,500°C (vacuum or inert gas atmosphere) | Suitable for extreme-cold LNG pumping and ultra-high-temperature vacuum furnace equipment |
Structural Configuration | Solid rings, split rings (beveled/straight cut), split rings | Supports online repair and replacement without the need to disassemble the entire shaft assembl |
Machining tolerances | Inner/outer diameter tolerances can be controlled within ±0.1 mm | Ensure a tight fit with the stuffing box and shaft sleeve to prevent uneven wear and leakage. |
Our products are widely used across multiple key industrial sectors, addressing critical challenges.
Mechanical seals for reactors
This graphite ring is a core component of the reactor’s mechanical seal. Precision-machined from high-purity graphite, it is resistant to corrosion from strong acids and alkalis. Under reaction conditions involving chemical media, its excellent self-lubricating properties and sealing precision effectively prevent media leakage and ensure continuous equipment operation.
Graphite Sealing Ring for
Vacuum Furnaces
The graphite heating elements inside the vacuum furnace are made of high-purity carbon graphite and are capable of sustained operation at 3000°C in an inert atmosphere. Their low thermal expansion coefficient and high thermal conductivity ensure uniform temperature distribution within the furnace, making them suitable for high-temperature vacuum processes such as metal sintering and ceramic heat treatment.
Centrifugal Pump Seal
Designed specifically for centrifugal pumps, these graphite shaft seal rings feature a low coefficient of friction that reduces shaft wear and operational energy consumption. They are resistant to corrosion from the pumped media and are suitable for applications involving fluids containing acids, alkalis, and impurities, thereby extending equipment service life and reducing operational and maintenance costs.
To ensure these precision carbon products arrive intact after long-distance transport, we adhere to industry-leading protective packaging standards:
Inner protection: Pearl cotton is used between the graphite rings to prevent surface scratches or impacts.
Mid-layer reinforcement: Place the items in custom-made cardboard boxes or wooden pallets and fill them with shock-absorbing material to prevent movement during transport.
Outer packaging: Packaged in fumigation-free plywood crates that meet export standards; these crates are moisture-resistant and sturdy.
Logistics Support: We support sea freight, air freight, and express delivery (DHL), and provide end-to-end tracking services.

Q: Are graphite rings prone to breaking? How do you ensure their safety during shipping?
A: Although graphite is a brittle material, it has very high compressive strength. We use high-density cushioning materials in our packaging, so the products are safe during shipping as long as they are not subjected to severe, sharp impacts. In the event of damage, we offer compensation through our after-sales service.
Q: Can you provide samples?
A: For standard stock products, we can provide samples for testing. For non-standard custom products, we need to confirm the drawings and mold costs first.
Q: How do I choose the right graphite material (carbon graphite vs. flexible graphite)?
A: If your application requires high wear resistance and mechanical strength (e.g., piston rings), we recommend carbon graphite; if your application requires soft sealing and corrosion-resistant packing (e.g., gaskets or packing rings), flexible graphite is the better choice. Our engineers can assist you with the selection process.
